FAQ

Common Questions

Are all these calculators free?
Yes — all 7 calculators are completely free. No account, email, or payment is ever required. Every tool runs entirely in your browser and does not store or transmit your data.
Which tax year do the Canada tax calculators use?
The Canada Income Tax Calculator and Canada Inflation Calculator are built for the 2025-26 tax year, using CRA federal tax brackets, provincial rates, and Statistics Canada CPI data. Rates are reviewed and updated as CRA and provincial governments publish new figures.
What are the federal income tax brackets in Canada?
Canada’s federal income tax uses five marginal brackets ranging from 15% up to 33%, applied on top of provincial or territorial tax. Your total combined rate depends on which province or territory you live in. Use our Canada Income Tax Calculator to see your exact combined federal + provincial liability.
What’s the difference between Land Transfer Tax and BC’s Property Transfer Tax?
They’re the same type of tax — a one-time provincial tax charged when property changes ownership — but each province uses its own name and rate structure. Ontario, and most other provinces, call it Land Transfer Tax (with Toronto adding a second municipal LTT). British Columbia specifically calls its version the Property Transfer Tax (PTT), with its own separate rate tiers and first-time buyer exemption rules. Use the Land Transfer Tax Calculator for Ontario and most other provinces, and the BC Property Transfer Tax Calculator specifically for British Columbia.
Do I need CMHC insurance on my Canadian mortgage?
If your down payment is less than 20% of the home’s purchase price, your mortgage is considered a “high-ratio” mortgage and you’re required to buy mortgage default insurance — most commonly through CMHC. Our Canadian Mortgage Calculator estimates this premium automatically and adds it to your loan amount.
Does the Canada Income Tax Calculator include CPP and EI deductions?
Yes. Alongside federal and provincial income tax, the calculator factors in Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) contributions to give you a realistic net take-home pay estimate by province.
How does the Canada Student Loan Calculator handle provincial loans?
It estimates repayment for both the federal portion (serviced through the National Student Loans Service Centre, NSLSC) and the provincial portion of your student loan, giving you a combined monthly payment, total interest, and payoff timeline.
Which Canadian cities does the Cost of Living Calculator cover?
The Cost of Living Calculator (Canada) compares Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Montreal across housing, groceries, transport and utilities, so you can see how far your income would go if you relocated between these cities.

I build and personally maintain every calculator on Sitnit.com — currently 110+ tools across 16+ countries, including all 7 Canada tools on this page. Each one is coded, tested, and cross-checked against official sources (CRA, Statistics Canada, Bank of Canada, CMHC, and provincial land transfer tax authorities) before it goes live, and I re-verify the figures whenever tax brackets or rates change each year.
