1. Who we are
SitNit.com is a free online calculator and tools platform owned and operated by Shivam D, a software engineer based in India. For the purposes of data protection law, Shivam is the Data Controller for personal data collected through this website.
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal data, you can contact us at:
Email: contact@sitnit.com
Country: India
Website: https://sitnit.com
2. What information we collect
We keep this simple. Here is what we collect and why:
Calculator inputs
When you use any calculator on SitNit, the numbers you enter stay entirely in your browser. We do not store, transmit, or collect any calculation data you enter. Nothing you type into a calculator is sent to our servers.
Contact form
If you contact us through our contact page (powered by WPForms), we collect your name, email address, and the message you send. We use this only to respond to your enquiry. We do not add contact form submissions to any mailing list without your explicit consent. WPForms’ privacy policy is available at wpforms.com/privacy-policy.
Email newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter (powered by Hostinger Reach), we collect your email address. We use this only to send you announcements about new tools and updates on SitNit. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send. Hostinger Reach is operated by Hostinger International Ltd. Their privacy policy is available at hostinger.com/privacy-policy.
Usage and analytics data
We collect anonymised data about how visitors use our site — pages visited, session duration, device type, browser, and approximate geographic location (country/city level). This is collected through Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit). IP addresses are anonymised by default in GA4. We use this data only to understand how we can improve the site.
Advertising data
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may collect data about your browsing behaviour to show you relevant ads. This only happens after you have given your consent via our cookie banner. See Section 5 for details.
3. Legal basis for processing GDPR
If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires us to tell you the legal basis on which we process your personal data. Here is our basis for each type of processing:
- Contact form data — processed on the basis of Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f)): we have a legitimate interest in responding to messages you choose to send us.
- Newsletter subscriptions — processed on the basis of Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): you actively opt in to receive our newsletter. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics) — processed on the basis of Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): analytics cookies are only activated after you accept them in our cookie banner.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) — processed on the basis of Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): advertising cookies are only activated after you accept them in our cookie banner.
- Necessary cookies and site security data — processed on the basis of Legitimate Interests (Article 6(1)(f)): we have a legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website.
Where we rely on consent as the legal basis, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before the withdrawal.
4. Cookies
SitNit uses cookies. We manage cookie consent through Complianz, a GDPR-compliant consent management plugin. When you first visit the site, you will see a cookie banner giving you the choice to accept, reject, or manage your preferences by category.
The types of cookies we use:
- Necessary cookies — essential for the site to function (e.g. cookie consent preference storage). These are always active and cannot be turned off.
- Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4, used to understand site usage. Only activated after you accept.
- Advertising cookies — Google AdSense, used to show relevant advertisements. Only activated after you accept.
- Functional cookies — used to remember your preferences across visits. Only activated after you accept.
For a full list of cookies used on this site, please see our Cookie Policy. You can change your consent preferences at any time by clicking the “Manage Consent” tab on our site.
5. Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on SitNit. Advertising keeps all tools on this site free for everyone. Google AdSense uses cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other websites on the internet.
Advertising cookies are only set after you have given your consent via our cookie banner. If you reject advertising cookies, Google AdSense will serve non-personalised ads instead — ads are still shown but they are not based on your browsing history.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google’s Ads Settings or by using the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out tool. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use SitNit. Data collected includes pages visited, session duration, device type, and approximate geographic location (country/city only — not street address). IP addresses are anonymised by default in GA4.
We have enabled Google Consent Mode v2, which means Google Analytics only collects full measurement data after you accept analytics cookies via our banner. If you decline, Google Analytics operates in a restricted, cookieless mode and does not store any personal identifiers.
Analytics data is retained for 14 months as per Google Analytics default settings, after which it is automatically deleted. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and Google Analytics data practices.
7. How we use your information
We use the information we collect for these purposes only:
- To respond to messages sent through our contact form
- To send newsletter updates to subscribers who have opted in
- To understand how visitors use the site and to improve it
- To display relevant advertisements through Google AdSense
- To maintain the security and performance of the site
We do not use your data for any automated profiling, scoring, or decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. We do not use your data for direct marketing beyond the newsletter you have explicitly subscribed to.
8. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with any third party except the following service providers, who process data on our behalf under contractual data processing agreements:
- Google LLC — for Google Analytics and Google AdSense (privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy)
- WPForms / Awesome Motive — for contact form processing (privacy policy: wpforms.com/privacy-policy)
- Hostinger International Ltd — for website hosting and the Hostinger Reach newsletter service (privacy policy: hostinger.com/privacy-policy)
- Complianz B.V. — for GDPR-compliant cookie consent management (privacy policy: complianz.io/privacy-policy)
We may also disclose your data if required to do so by law, court order, or a lawful request from a governmental authority.
9. International data transfers GDPR
SitNit is operated from India. Some of the third-party service providers we use — specifically Google LLC (USA) — process data in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom. This means your personal data may be transferred to, and processed in, countries whose data protection laws differ from those in your country.
Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA or UK to countries not deemed adequate by the European Commission, we rely on appropriate safeguards to ensure your data remains protected:
- Google LLC — transfers are governed by Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as approved by the European Commission, and Google’s participation in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. See Google’s data processing terms.
- Hostinger International Ltd — based in Cyprus (EU) with infrastructure in the EEA; subject to EU GDPR directly.
By using SitNit and accepting relevant cookies, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to these service providers in accordance with the safeguards described above.
10. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purpose it was collected:
- Contact form submissions — retained for up to 12 months to allow us to follow up on your enquiry, then deleted.
- Newsletter email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe. After unsubscribing, your address is removed within 30 days.
- Analytics data — retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, as per Google’s default setting, then automatically deleted.
- Cookie consent records — stored in your browser for up to 12 months (by Complianz) so you are not shown the consent banner on every visit.
11. Your rights
If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR & UK GDPR)
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and UK GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) — request that we delete your personal data, where we have no legitimate reason to continue processing it.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete personal data we hold.
- Right to restriction — ask us to temporarily restrict how we process your data while a concern is being resolved.
- Right to data portability — request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format (where technically feasible).
- Right to object — object to processing of your personal data where we rely on Legitimate Interests as the legal basis.
- Right to withdraw consent — withdraw cookie or newsletter consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
- Right to lodge a complaint — if you believe we are processing your personal data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority. In the EU, find your authority at edpb.europa.eu. In the UK, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at contact@sitnit.com. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.
If you are in California, USA (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), California residents have the following rights:
- Right to know — you can request information about the categories of personal data we collect, the purposes for which we collect it, and the categories of third parties we share it with.
- Right to delete — you can request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to correct — you can request that we correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
- Right to opt out of sale or sharing — SitNit does not sell your personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising in a way that constitutes a “sale” under CCPA. Google AdSense advertising cookies are only set with your consent.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not treat you differently if you exercise any of your privacy rights.
To exercise your California privacy rights, email us at contact@sitnit.com with the subject line “CCPA Request”. We will respond within 45 days as required by law.
12. Automated decision-making GDPR
SitNit does not use any automated decision-making or profiling (as defined in Article 22 of the GDPR) that produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you. The calculators on SitNit perform mathematical computations locally in your browser — they do not produce any decisions about you as an individual, and their results are not reported to us.
13. Third-party links
SitNit contains links to external websites, including official government and tax authority sites (IRS, HMRC, ATO, Income Tax India, and others) used as reference sources for our calculators. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those external sites. We recommend reading their privacy policies before submitting any personal information to them.
14. Children’s privacy
SitNit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contact@sitnit.com and we will delete the relevant data promptly.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, when we add new tools, change our third-party service providers, or when data protection law changes. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
For significant changes that materially affect how we process your personal data, we will provide a more prominent notice (such as a notice on the site homepage or, for newsletter subscribers, an email notification).
Continued use of SitNit after any changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
